Service Description: The U.S. Geological Survey, Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center and the National Park Service, Grand Canyon National Park conducted campsite surveys between 2007 and 2010. These ground condition surveys resulted in the development of a GIS layer containing 504 known campsites along the Colorado River between Glen Canyon Dam near Page, Arizona and Lake Mead at Pearce Ferry, Arizona. Campsites are delineated between Active and Legacy, where Active Campsites are thought to be actively used while Legacy Campsites are not used or very rarely used anymore.
